(10/15/07) OK, OK, yeah, yeah, yeah. It's been a good long while since my last update -- sorry about that.

Anyway, the Corn Stock Lab Theatre is seeking submissions for next year's season. Here is a letter, calling for submissions from Chip Joyce, chair of the Lab Theatre Play Selection Committee. If you have interest, make sure to let them know!!

(08/10/07) Two updates today. First, thank you to Nyk Sutter for sending me some terrific pictures of the recent PPT Youth production of High School Musical.

Second, Andy Driscoll recently pointed me to a very interesting website. For those of you dreaming of pursuing the dream of performing professionally, you may want to check it out: BroadwayLiving.com. It is a great resource as well as entertainment for anyone who loves performing and dreams in terms of showtunes.

(08/03/07) Community Players announces auditions for their non-subscription lab show for September, George Bernard Shaw's Don Juan in Hell. The show offers a witty and lively debate on such issues as love and marriage, men and women, life and death, and whether or not there's fire and brimstone in Satan's kingdom. The Nobel Prize-winning playwright was the author of over 100 plays, including Candida, Major Barbara, Heartbreak House, and Pygmalion, the basis for My Fair Lady

Co-directors Sally Parry and Cathy Sutliff will be looking for four adults to play the following roles: Don Juan, the famous lover from Lord Byron's poem; Dona Ana, a former lover of Don Juan's, who transforms from an old woman to a young one; the Commander, the statue who drags Don Juan to hell in Mozart's Don Giovanni; and the Devil, who is, well, the Devil. Performances will be Friday and Saturday, September 28th and 29th at 7:30 p.m. Auditions will be held Saturday and Sunday, August 18th and 19th, at 2:00 p.m. at Community Players Theater, 201 Robinhood Lane, Bloomington.

These dates have been added to the Central Illinois Theatre Calendar and the Audition Callboard.

(08/03/07) Here's a paid opportunity for local actors: auditions for three Actors to travel six weeks, from Illinois to Pennsylvania, mid-September thru October. The educational performance is Recycling and Litter Prevention at Elementary Schools. Actors will be paid weekly and transportation will be provided. If interested, email resumes and head shots to Norma Adams at Kaleidoscope Kids by August 20th.

(07/20/07) Warm up your vocal chords and dust off your music books! It's time for another Musical Theatre Open Mic night at the Waterhouse down on the riverfront! On July 27th, bring your sheet music and get ready to sing some songs! You bring yourself and some music, and we'll supply the accompanist. For those of you needing a "shot" of courage, the bar will also be open (for those of you of age!).

The festivities should kick off around 10:00 pm, or whenever I get there after Into the Woods rehearsal.

Come perform in a friendly, supportive, wildly fun environment. Spread the word and tell all your friends!

The Waterhouse is located at 619 Water Street, along the riverfront in Peoria, next to Kelleher's and just upstairs from Rhodell's Brewery.
